For the past 2 nights, Dublin & Belfast were transformed into a glittering celebration as the Scissor Sisters made their long-awaited return to the stage,

We were at the SSE Arena in Belfast on Tuesday, with what can only be described as an unforgettable show that marked the 20th anniversary of their iconic debut album! From start to finish, it was a dazzling affair that had us dancing, singing, and reliving all the fabulous memories.

The anticipation was palpable before the show, especially when the lights dimmed and the excitement reached a fever pitch. Alison Goldfrapp kicked things off with an electrifying set that had everyone on their feet! She performed some of her most loved classics, including “Ooh la la” and “Strict Machine,”before closing with the sultry “Fever.” But the real surprise? A twerking gorilla sneaking about while teasing a big black curtain to the tune of Dolly Parton’s Baby I’m Burnin’”! Yes, you read that right—a twerking gorilla and Dolly Parton…..could it get any camper??

And then, the moment we’d been waiting for arrived. The curtain dropped, and the Scissor Sisters burst onto the stage with the infectious energy of their opening track “Laura.” While Ana Matronic was notably absent, Amber Martin and Bridget Barkanstepped in seamlessly, bringing their charisma, uniqueness, nerve and talents to the performance. The staging was as over-the-top and fabulous as we expected, think sequins, inflatable tits, neon, lasers and a whole lot of glitter!

The outfits were loud and proud and absolutely filthy gorgeous with several changes throughout. I personally want Jake's baggy neon suit and sparkle vest for the GNI Awards!

Del Marquis looked exceptionally gorgeous according to members of our group and the surrounding audience.... Again, I want to steal his baggy high-waisted trousers and crisp white shirt for an event. Who'd have thought scissor sisters would be inspiring my events wardrobe?!

The setlist was a thrilling trip down memory lane, celebrating the anniversary of their debut album. We grooved to fan favourites like “Take Your Mama,”which cleverly mashed up with “Freedom” by George Michael, and “Mary,” where Jake shared an endearing story about a loyal girlfriend waiting outside clubs to ensure he got home safe. You could feel the nostalgia washing over us as we sang along to “Comfortably Numb,” taking me back to those euphoric party post-graduation days of the noughties.

And, oh boy, “Let’s Have a Kiki” sent the audience into a frenzy, especially with its strong ties to Drag Race culture, everyone was on board for that one! As the night neared its end, the crowd erupted for the encore, and the energy was electric as they broke into “Filthy/Gorgeous,” closing the night with the anthemic “Music Is the Victim.”

For this tour, the band has teamed up with an incredible charity called Not A Phase. This amazing organisation is trans-led and focuses on uplifting and enhancing the lives of our trans+ brothers and sisters. They’re all about raising awareness, launching social projects, and funding initiatives led by the trans+ community.

Not A Phase creates vital space for trans+ and gender non-conforming individuals to thrive, all while collaborating with various organisations to develop diversity and inclusion strategies that spark positive change. It's a wonderful cause that truly embodies the spirit of support and empowerment!

The Scissor Sisters proved they’re just as fabulous as ever, leaving us buzzing long after the final curtain call. Here’s to hoping we won't have to wait another 12 years for their next set of fabulous antics!
