GOH is alive with the Sound Of Music

If the 1965 film staring Julie Andrews played a big part in your childhood or if you somehow grew up never hearing the lighthearted songs of The Sound Of Music, you’re in for a treat as you will have the opportunity to see the amazing production by St Agnes' Choral Society currently playing in The Grand Opera House.

A brilliantly talented cast come together to sing classic tunes like ‘Do-Re-Me’, My Favourite Things’ and ‘So Long, Farewell’. The children stun you with their vocal abilities especially Aideen Fox as the eldest of the von Tramp Children, Liesel, her sweet voice and dancing ability wowed the audience in ‘Sixteen Going On Seventeen’ and helped everyone to remember the joy of first love.

Recognition must be given to the wonderful leading lady Michelle Hannaway as Maria, belting out ‘The Sound Of Music’ beautifully and leaving the audience uplifted with her captivating performance.

The romance with equally amazing co-star Tony Young as Captain Von Trapp had everyone aww-ing from start to finish as you saw him progress from the commanding, often dominating man to the loving father at the end of the show.

I can not continue without acknowledging the masterful set that really filled the stage and dragged you into 20th century Austria with the scenic mountains and the beautiful Abbey for Fiona Keegan’s show stopping solo.

Whether you’re a long term fan or not The Sound Of Music is an unmissable show for everyone young or old.
