Paul Currie returns to the MAC with brand new comedy show – fresh from the Edinburgh Fringe.

Paul Currie, the master of surreal nonsense and bohemian clownarchy returns to the MAC this September with his brand-new show Cats in my Mouth.

Nominated best new show at the Leicester comedy festival, Cats in My Mouth is a surreal, fun and nonsense-filled evening that’s sure to keep you smiling – and chatting – long after you’ve headed home.

The show, which has been met with outstanding feedback over the past few weeks in Edinburgh has been described as “A completely wonderful time that had everyone from teens to fifty-year-olds in stitches.” (Shortcom.co.uk).

Creative Director at the MAC, Simon Magill said: “Creative Director at the MAC, Simon Magill said: “We’re excited thrilled that Paul Currie is returning to the MAC with his new show fresh from his Edinburgh Fringe success. His previous show Release the Baboons, was a big hit with MAC audiences and we are looking forward to welcoming you for a comedy event that can only be experienced to be understood.”

In recent years, Belfast-based Paul Currie has gained a loyal fan base including some of the UK’s most respected comedians: Stewart Lee, Limmy, Tony Law, Phil Jupitus & Tom Stade. “It was like watching the Monty Python version of stand up.” (Fringe Guru).

Paul Currie said: “Cats in my Mouth is a very abstract love letter to my Grand Parents and Great Aunts who raised me, and I also dip into my struggle with depression and how I deal and live with it. The response at the Edinburgh Fringe this year to Cats in my Mouth has been unprecedented, the feedback each night was over whelming, people returning 2 & 3 times to see it, to experience it, audiences commenting on how I have taken my comedy to a new level without thankfully losing the sense of absurdity. Edinburgh allowed me to develop the show for a full month and I now have a show I am truly very proud of and can't wait to perform it in my home city at the MAC.”
