WATCH Lady GaGa's emotional performance at the Oscars

Last night Leonardo DiCaprio finally took home his first Oscar, and about time too, but it was Lady GaGa’s emotional and touching performance that really shook us.

Nominated for Best Original song for The Hunting Ground, the song ‘Till It Happens To You’ is an emotional and deep masterpiece touching on campus rape in the United States. The song however gained worldwide attention, with many rape survivors coming forward and speaking of the experience due to the strength the song gave them. The video also depicts, sadly accurate, violent attacks on women.

Lady GaGa sadly did not pick up the Oscar for this emotionally and vocally stunning piece, instead going to Sam Smith with Writing On The Wall which was featured in the latest Bond film. She did perform a simple and respectful, piano lead performance before being joined by a large number of both male and female rape survivors.

Also a victim of rape, Lady GaGa uses her incredible talent to give the song so much feeling and emotion, backed by amazing vocals, the audience responds with a standing ovation with several welling up.

You can watch the performance below.
