Let me just say this upfront - I haven't laughed this hard at a play in ages! Last night at The MAC in Belfast, I caught "Murder For Two," and honestly, I'm already checking my calendar to see when I can go back.

This musical whodunit takes a simple setup - famous author Arthur Whitney gets murdered at his own birthday party - and turns it into comedy gold. The real kicker? There are only two actors playing all thirteen characters, AND they play the piano throughout the entire show. Talk about multi-tasking!

Rob Gathercole plays Marcus Moscowicz, the wannabe detective who sees this murder as his big break. He's fantastic, but Will Arundell is absolutely mind-blowing, switching between all the suspects with nothing more than a change in posture or voice. One minute he's an old lady, the next he's a bickering couple, then suddenly he's a ballet dancer - it's like watching someone with multiple personality disorder, but in the most impressive way possible.

The piano is basically another character in the show, with both actors taking turns pounding the keys while keeping the plot moving. Sometimes they're fighting over who gets to play, sometimes they're playing together - it never stops being impressive.

My favourite bit? When they pulled some poor audience member on stage. The guy they picked was such a good sport, and the whole theater was practically crying with laughter. Close second was when Will went full-on diva mode and turning the murder scene into something straight out of Broadway. I nearly fell out of my seat!

The timing of everything was just spot-on. These guys never missed a beat, whether it was a quick character switch, a punchline, or a musical number. The audience was so into it that spontaneous applause broke out at least eight times during the show, and by the end, everyone was on their feet for not one but TWO standing ovations.

Look, if you're in Belfast and wondering what to do with your evening, just go see this show. I'm not usually one for murder mysteries OR musicals, but this combo works perfectly. Seriously, it's the best Friday night entertainment in the city right now.

The MAC has hit the jackpot with this production, and those two actors deserve every bit of applause they got.

Five stars, two thumbs up, 10/10 - however you want to rate it, "Murder For Two" is a total winner.

Just go see it, okay? You can thank me later.
