DOG FRIENDLY BAR RAISES PAWSOME AMOUNT FOR LOCAL DOG CHARITY

Dog-friendly bar, The Dirty Onion, has raised over £5k for local dog rescue charity Lucy’s Trust since the Cathedral Quarter Bar opened its doors to welcome canine customers in 2017.

Since becoming part of a select list of dog-friendly venues in Belfast city centre, the bar has organised several fundraising events including Pooch Socials, Hot Dawg BBQs and Santa Paw events for Lucy’s Trust which, has helped the charity build awareness of the important role it plays in helping Northern Ireland’s stray dogs.

Continuing its support with local charities, The Dirty Onion has announced its next Pooch Social will take place on Sunday 23 June from 1pm-5pm. Funds raised for the event will go to local animal charity Almost Home NI. The event offers live music, BBQ and a doggy fair, selling locally produced food and accessories for your dog. You can even bring your furry friends along to join in with the fun.

Set up in 2013, Almost Home NI rescues and rehabilitates homeless, unwanted and neglected animals and educates the public in the care and treatment of animals.

Co. Tyrone artist Stephen Gallagher who specialises in painting dog portraits so owners can celebrate the joy their pets bring into their lives has created several treasured doggy paintings for the event. The pet portraits will be exhibited at The Dirty Onion from June 23 – 30 and will be replacing all current artwork in the bar during this time.
