ITS IN THE DNA!


Some teenagers do something bad, really bad, then panic and cover the whole thing up. But when they find that the cover-up unites them and brings harmony to their once fractious lives, where’s the incentive to put things right? From the team which brought you the revival of Christina Reid’s Joyriders, Apollo Arts, comes a brand new staging of Dennis Kelly’s jet-black comedy DNA. Directed by Pauline Carville & produced by Robin Elliott, DNA stars a number of up and coming actors including Nathan Donaghy, Eva Devine, Hannah Reilly, James Dougal, Nathan Jones, Caleb Dickie, Chloe Gilmore, Natalie Canavan, Emily Braiden, Caitlin Ferris & Josh Greenaway. Don't miss DNA at The Baby Grand at Belfast's Grand Opera House from 4th - 8th February.

THE CAST OF DNA

NATHAN DONAGHY (Phil) Nathan, (18) is from Poleglass and is a former pupil of St Colms High School. In 2017, the sold out Apollo Arts production of Joyriders at Feile was the first play that Nathan had done outside of school. Since then Nathan has also appeared in the Apollo Arts production of Willy Russell's Our Day Out and once again took on the role of Arthur in Joyriders when it came to the Grand Opera House for a week last October. Nathan is now looking forward to taking on the role of Phil in the brand new staging of Dennis Kelly’s jet-black comedy DNA.

HANNAH REILLY (Cathy) Hannah (24) has a 2:1 Drama and English degree from Queens University Belfast and now works full time as a drama facilitator. She first got involved with Apollo Arts during the summer in their production of Chatroom. She has also been involved in Christina Reid's Joyriders in the Grand Opera House with Apollo Arts and can't wait to return to take on the role of Cathy in Dennis Kelly's jet-black comedy DNA!

JAMES DOUGAL (Mark) James Dougal,(36) has studied drama since the age of 11. He has been performing in the UK under his rap name Deablo and has appeared in the feature film “The Wipers Times” which was shown at the Cannes film festival. In October James took on the role of Tommy in the Apollo Arts production of Christina Reid's Joyriders at the Grand Opera House! James is looking forward to returning to the stage to take on the role of MARK in Dennis Kelly's jet-black comedy DNA!

CHLOE GILMORE (Dani) Chloe Gilmore (18) has just finished her A-Levels at Ballymena Academy where she studied Enlglish literature, History and Government and Politics. Chloe has been interesting in Performing arts for a very long time and has taken part in the Apollo Arts performances of, “Our Day Out”, “Blood Brothers”, “Joyriders” “The Sound of the Musicals” and “The Sound of Movies”. "I’ve really enjoyed my time with this group and made so many friends and been able to further my acting ability to Grade 8".

CAITLIN FERRIS (Jan) Caitlín Ferris (18) is from Newcastle, currently working towards her A Levels at Assumption Grammar School. Shas previously been involved in several National Theatre Connections plays in the Lyric Theatre, including “Drama, Baby” by Jamie Brittain, “Blackout” by Davey Anderson and “Extremism” by Anders Lustgarten. Caitlín is thrilled to be working alongside an amazing cast and production team within Apollo Arts and looks forward to sharing the story of “DNA”.

EVANNA DEVINE (Leah) Evanna Devine (18) is currently a music and English literature student at Dominican College, Fortwilliam. Evanna's love for drama stemmed from her three summers at the Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival in New York where she performed in Romeo and Juliet , Othello and The Tempest. Since then shes been apart of The Sound of Music , Aladdin and Anything Goes. "Since joining Apollo Arts I've learnt so much from my incredible directors and fellow cast members and i'm extremely excited to be part of such a wonderful play "

CALEB DICKIE (Richard) Caleb Dickie (18) has recently graduated from a Level 3 Course in Performing Arts from NRC in which he recieved a DDM grade. He has a Bronze medal award in acting from LAMDA and has appeared in the Apollo Arts production of Chatroom by Enda Walsh, as well as a number of other plays and productions. He is hoping to attend drama school either this year or the next for a BA Honours in Professional Acting.

EMILY BRAIDEN (Joanne Tate) Emily Braiden (17) is from Belfast and is currently doing a Level 3 BTEC Performing Arts course at Northern Regional College. Emily has performed in various productions including Joseph & his Technicolor Dreamcoat, Alice in Wonderland and Les Miserables in the Waterfront Hall. "I am incredibly excited to be performing alongside such a talented cast & directors in this production of DNA with Apollo Arts at the Grand Opera House. I'm learning new skills for my future career and it has been an enjoyable experience.

NATHAN JONES (Brian) Nathan is a 21 year old performer from West Belfast who has performed in a variety of different roles in notable venues such The Grand Opera House, Theatre at the Mill, The Waterfront Studio etc. Nathan has been involved with Apollo Arts for many shows including Blood Brothers, Sound of Musicals, Joyriders , Our Day Out, Sound of Movies and Chatroom both as performer and lighting and sound technican. Recently Nathan has completed his professional diploma in musical theatre as he works towards his dream of becoming a professional actor and director.

JOSH GREENAWAY (ADAM)

Josh Greenaway (16) is student at Newbridge Integrated College and is currently studying GCSE Drama. He is hoping to further his career in acting and performance really looking forward to playing Adam in the Apollo Arts Production of Dennis Kelly's DNA.
