COUNTRY JUST GOT FUNKY!

I have to admit I am not the hugest of country fans with most of my experience coming from Shania Twain and the Dixie Chicks being in the mainstream charts, so I when asked to review the hottest new star in modern country Thomas Rhett I wasn't sure what to expect. Upon researching him, his sound and his background I was really looking forward to seeing what the latest breakout country star had to offer......safe to say he did not disappoint, I would go as far to say that if Gareth Brooks was only starting out now....this is what he would sound like!

Bursting onto the stage full of energy with his 5 piece band, Thomas' vocals and guitar rifts were just awesome! Having been building his fan base here in Europe for over year, it was plain to see that the very mixed crowd of old and young, male and female, checked shirts and leather jackets were all big fans knowing every song word for word!

I am always impressed by artists that just jam with their band at gigs without any gimmicks of dancers, fancy lighting or pyrotechnics, Thomas and his band did just that, with some of their hits like current single "Craving You" "marry me" and the extremely catchy tune "life changes". Thomas and the boys then brought what felt like something from an Ike and Tina esk funk rock dance breakdown with the song "vacation" they all lined up and got down with their bad selves in sync to the heavy drum beat while playing their guitars and Sax. Suffice to say the crowd went wild for it which lead Thomas to go into the crowd and start taking selfies on fans phones.

The night was finished off with an encore of "unforgettable" and "T-shirt". I left the Waterfront Hall a converted Thomas Rhett fan impressed with his music and his showmanship as a front man......Thomas if you are reading this I tip my Stetson hat to you!
