Robin swaps the studio for the stage!

Radio & TV Presenter Robin Elliott is swapping the comfort of the radio & TV studio for his first big acting role in 20 years! The former Citybeat & Q Radio presenter is taking on the role of Mr Briggs in Willy Russell's Our Day Out at Belvoir Studio Theatre this December. Robin, who studied Performing Arts as a teenager and also has a BA Hons in Drama from Queens University is looking forward to the new challenge. "I originally trained as an actor but I was lucky enough to plenty of radio & TV work from a young age and have been lucky enough to sustain this. I am now at a stage in my life where I can pick and choose the gigs that I want to do and it seems the right time to do some acting", said Robin. In Our Day Out Robin plays the very strict deputy head teacher Mr Briggs who ends up on a school trip with a whole load of unruly children. "Briggs is a great character to play and in a way he's just like a Panto villain and its always good to play parts like this", says Robin.

Apollo Community Arts Presents Willy Russell's Our Day Out: The Musical When Mrs Kay plans to take a group of unruly school children on a school trip to Tayto Park things don’t go smoothly. The deputy head disciplinarian teacher, Mr Briggs, joins them and tells them they are no longer allowed to go and are instead going to Malahide Castle.

Chaos insues as the teachers take the kids to the zoo, the beach and fun fair. Along the journey the children understand life outside of Belfast and the teachers are just glad to get back in one piece. Following the success of Blood Brothers & Joyriders, Apollo Community Arts are back with this new version of Our Day Out: The Musical featuring some of Northern Ireland's best up and coming talent as well as guest appearance from Radio & TV presenter Robin Elliott as Mr Briggs. Don't miss Our Day Out at Belvoir Studio Theatre, 94 Belvoir Drive, Belfast BT8 7DJ on 1st & 2nd Dcember. Shows 7.30pm. Matinee: Saturday 2nd December at 3pm.
