The Grand Opera House supports Dementia Awareness Week

Belfast’s Grand Opera House is supporting Dementia Awareness Week, which runs from Sunday 14 to Saturday 20 May 2017, by hosting a number of dementia friendly events.

The Grand Opera House is hosting two dementia friendly films, screened in the Baby Grand Studio, an introductory workshop on digital photography for people with dementia, and will be providing dementia awareness training to members of the Theatre staff. On Tuesday 16 May at 11.30am the Theatre is showing Calamity Jane, and on Thursday 18 May at 11.30am the film Brooklyn will be screened.

Dementia friendly film screenings provide an entertaining and inclusive cinematic experience for those living with dementia, their families and their carers. These screenings are adapted to create a safe and welcoming environment by lowering lights, removing adverts and allowing the audience to move around freely.

In addition to the two films, the Theatre will also host a workshop on Wednesday 17 May at 11am for those with a passion for pictures. The workshop will help develop photography skills in Introduction to Digital Photography with industry professionals offering guidance on how to get the best angles and capture fascinating images.

To book your tickets for any of these events contact the Box Office on 028 9024 1919 or visit goh.co.uk.
