GOH Celebrates Pantomime Success!
Belfast’s iconic Grand Opera House has announced that its pantomime, Cinderella, which finished on Sunday 15 January 2017, has enjoyed record-breaking success. The six-week, 74 performance run of the pantomime was seen by over 74,500 theatregoers.
Northern Ireland’s biggest panto starred May McFettridge as the Fairy Godmother, Gareth Gates as Prince Charming, Jayne Wisener as Cinderella, Paddy Jenkins as Baron Hardup and Gerard McCabe and Tommy Wallace as the Ugly Sisters.
Ian Wilson, chief executive of the Grand Opera House said:
“Ever since the Theatre opened with a panto in 1895, the Grand Opera House has staged Northern Ireland’s biggest Christmas show, enjoyed by generations of families, and the record-breaking attendances for Cinderella reinforce that the Grand Opera House is the home of pantomime in Northern Ireland.”
“The intimate nature of the Grand Opera House’s auditorium, which allows the audience to be close to the action on stage, combined with top-drawer production values, spectacular special effects, and stunning sets and costumes ensures theatregoers continue to come back to our annual pantomime extravaganza year after year.”
The Grand Opera House has also announced that its 2017/2018 pantomime, Peter Pan, has already sold 22,000 tickets - 10 months before its opening night!
Peter Pan will be staged by Qdos Entertainment, the world’s biggest pantomime producer, and the team behind Cinderella. It’s the first time that Peter Pan will be staged as the Grand Opera House’s pantomime in a decade.
Peter Pan runs from Saturday 2 December 2017 to Sunday 14 January 2018. Tickets can be booked online at goh.co.uk or on 028 9024 1919.
