GO SEE! The Addams Family arrives at GOH in time for Halloween

Kooky, Spooky, All Together Ooky - The Addams Family Broadway Musical to Open at the Grand Opera House

Charles Addams’ iconic family will be brought to life this October at the Grand Opera House, Belfast, in a new comedy musical presented by the award-winning Belfast Operatic Company. Running for 6 performances from 25th - 29th October, the musical comes just in time for Halloween and provides a real treat for all ages.

From the creators of the Jersey Boys’ Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice and Drama Desk Award-winning composer/lyricist Andrew Lippa, the frightfully delightful world of Gomez, Morticia, Uncle Fester, Grandma, Wednesday, Pugsley and Lurch come to spectacular life in this all new story, based on the characters created by cartoonist Charles Addams. The magnificently morbid family is put to the test when outsiders come to dinner, hurling them into a night that will change their lives forever.

In a prolific career spanning six decades, Charles Addams created several thousand cartoons, sketches and drawings, many of which were published in The New Yorker. But it was his creation of The Addams Family characters that brought him his greatest acclaim. His unique drawings combined the twisted, macabre and just plain weird with charm, wit and enchantment. They have entertained millions worldwide and served as the inspiration for multiple television series, motion pictures and, now, a new stage musical.

Heading up the cast in the role of Gomez is local stalwart Brian Trainor, as well as Kerry Cooper as Morticia and Emma Martin as Wednesday. Speaking about his role in The Addams Family, Brian says: ‘I am so excited to get the opportunity to play the iconic role of Gomez Addams – with a well established character people have expectations and I’m delighted to be able to put my own comedy spin on him.’

The show is being directed by Wilfie Pyper, with musical direction under the baton of Colin Scott - both veterans of the Musical Theatre circuit.

Commenting on this production, Director, Wilfie Pyper, said: ‘Belfast Operatic Company has always been dedicated to the pursuit of musical excellence and this show is no exception. We’ve had so much fun rehearsing this show over the past few months and I would encourage everyone to come along - you will leave the theatre laughing at the hilarious script, rousing songs and witty characters. It also has all-age appeal, with a varied musical score ensuring there really is something for everyone, and a few surprises thrown in for good measure!’
