Tory Councillor's Grindr sex session with a 14 year old boy

John George Reaney is facing a child sex charge after his Grindr hook up was revealed as 14, not 18 as Mr Reaney was led to believe.

During June of last year, Mr Reaney arranged to meet his partner (who cannot be named due to legal issues) from the gay dating app 'Grindr', which is primarily used for casual sex. 'Sexual acts took place' however Mr Reaney was under the impression his partner was 18 years of age, which is a requirement for joining the dating app.

It has since then emerged that the boy is 14 years old, misleading Mr Reaney after reassuring he is of legal age several times and has caused Mr Reaney to be left facing child sex charges, but (Reaney) denies a charge of inciting and causing a child to engage in sexual activity.

Prosecutor Simon Mills argued: “The law is there to protect. Consent is irrelevant because it is illegal to exercise whatever they are consenting or not.”

The politician conceded he had “probably got swept along in the moment”, but told police it was “difficult” to know people’s age.

He added: “I probably should have walked away, but I didn’t. We had a bit of fumbling and it shouldn’t have happened.”

Reaney appeared for the hearing at Caernarfon Crown Court this week.
