Police are investigating disturbing rainbow nooses

The nooses dyed with rainbow colours where found on the grounds of Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, Tennessee.

It's assumed, because of the colours used and in the pattern they had been tied, they were suggesting the LGBT community where the recipients of the disgusting message, hanging.

Officials at the school contacted police and FBI forces who are now looking into the message.

“The police were very clear they didn’t understand if it was art or not art, said spokesperson Derek van der Merwe, explaining why the pieces were dismantled.

“Based upon that it has to be viewed as a hate symbol and removed.

“This incident is deeply disturbing and is hurtful to our University community,” said APSU President Alisa White.

“Regardless of the intent, the display has no place on our campus.”

The police had found the nooses being a part of a school project from a student, the intent however has not been confirmed or reported. The school have refused to take any action against the student, saying,

“I know you want me to act by taking some sort of severe action against that student. And frankly it would make it easier if we did,” said White. “But I don’t think it is the right thing to do and I have to be responsible for that as well.”
